What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

Dear Prep Panthers,
Wow, hard to believe 50 years has passed. Went by way too fast. Sorry to miss the party but will be on a 3-week Scotland adventure at the time.

To catch you up on my post graduation journey, I went on to the UW for both Undergraduate and Graduate degrees. Having grown 4 inches between senior year and Freshman year in College, I tried out for the Husky Crew team and rowed with them for 4 years lettering my Sophomore year (wish I had that size at Prep and I might have been better at Football!)

After the UW I went into Healthcare Administration. Then married my lovely wife Jill (married 35 years in June) and we have two boys PJ and Connor. After 38 years in a variety of senior healthcare roles in WA, AZ and AK retired from Providence the end of 2022 as the Regional CEO of our Alaska Market. We currently reside in Homer AK (The Halibut Capital of the World) which is a neat small town with incredible views and outdoor activities. In retirement we are engaging in travel and volunteering with several organizations. Attached is a current picture of Jill and I at a Husky game last year as well as a sunset view from our deck.

I wish everyone the very best and have an awesome party.
Best Wishes,
Preston

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

The last 50 years have been spent raising kids, reading, walking dogs, skiing, travelling and hiking with the family, and becoming one with the US Tax Code. After graduating from Prep, I attended Washinton State University, graduating in June of 1981 with a degree in Business Administration.  In October 1981 I married Ruth Satterlund and we settled in Seattle. I started working at Stanford Munko & Company CPAs in 1982. The firm was sold in May of 2023 and I and retired from accounting in October of 2024.

Our family moved to Wedgwood in January of 1987.  We have two sons, Pete & Carl, who both graduated from Seattle Prep. We moved to Tucson Arizona in spring of 2026 to be closer to our sons and our granddaughter Claire.

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

50 years…hard to imagine it has been that long since those formative years at Seattle Prep.  I fondly remember the lively days that guaranteed a good story around the dinner table each night with my family.

After Prep I attended WSU and studied Social Work and History.  Early on I was drawn to helping others and trying to be a positive force in the world. In the early 80’s I finished a Masters Degree in Theology at Catholic University in Washington D.C.

After graduating I spent 8 years with the L’Arche Community in Seattle; these homes were focused on living with adults with mental handicaps, a movement started in France in the early 60’s.  It was a way to build faith communities with those who seemed less fortunate, but really had a lot to give all of us.  I guess the Jesuits did have an impact on my life.

After this I took a break and then for the next 30 years was involved in the Transportation Industry, mostly at Virginia Mason Medical Center as Operations Manager.  My focus there was encouraging employees to bike and carpool, use the bus, and otherwise contribute to a healthy workplace.

I am an avid biker, soccer fan, swimmer, and history buff.  Although never married, I have been blessed with many friends and family.  The longer I live the more I am thankful for some of the essential lessons I learned at Prep.  Fond memories of 1972 and pushing a marshmallow across the parking lot with my nose. 😊

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

First off, the picture is me on Easter Island, about 2,200 miles off the coast of Chile.  I’m the one on the right 😊

I’ll be brief … I retired from the City of Seattle / City Light in 2018, and the military reserves in 2006. I live in Florida now.

Looking forward to seeing you all next month!

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

After graduating from Prep I went to WSU along with many other prep grads. Pat Smith and I were roommates freshman year and I had the pleasure of spending time with many other prep grads at WSU.

After graduating from WSU with a BA in Business and a Real Estate emphasis, I teamed up with an old grade school friend named Robert Londo. We started buying old houses and fixing them up during the summers of 1978,1979 and 1980. In June of 1981 we started building new houses under the name of Londo-Tiberio Construction, Inc. We were spec builders, which means we built homes hoping and praying someone would come along and buy them and thankfully they did. We started one at a time and gradually worked our way up to building many housing developments from Enumclaw to Lake Stevens.

We also became land developers in order to have a consistent supply of lots to build on and real estate investors as well. We currently own, manage and maintain our portfolio of properties which consist of retail, rental houses, automotive strip mall and self-storage facilities.

I have been married to my wife Colleen for 41 years, we have two kids Vito and Christina (both prep grads) and three grandchildren. For fun we are members of multiple wine clubs, social clubs and of course I really enjoy cars, motorcycles and boating.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

Current Residence: Pacific Grove, CA

Primary Occupation: Insurance Broker

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

Post Prep – College
I was the eldest of seven children and thus the first high school graduate of Sharon & Dick Allen. After those halcyon days at Prep I attended Santa Clara University and graduated with a BA (English) 1980. During those college summers, I painted houses with our industrious Prep classmate Jerry Tiberio as well as Greg Wheeler and Mike Haley.  The decision to attend SCU proved pivotal in my life as I met both my wife of almost 44 years now, Liz Roberto, and my best college friend, Mike Heffernan, with whom I would work with for over 30 years. I ran Cross Country for SCU three years – a couple of marathons, too.
Post College – Career/Marriage
After SCU, I moved to NYC in search of work in the insurance industry, and to be more geographically close to my girlfriend, Liz, who had planted herself in Syracuse as a volunteer for JVC East (Jesuit Volunteer Corps). I knocked on doors in downtown New York City during this recessionary time, landing a job at Frank B. Hall (now Aon), a national insurance broker, at their Wall Street location. My work was as a trainee “Average” (property) marine hull claims adjuster. It was the only job this 22-year-old English major from Seattle could find. The work was educational, foundational but severely niched.
Liz moved to Newark, NJ for second year with JVC. I moved from Brooklyn to East Orange, NJ to be closer to her and her JVC community. During that time, I was encouraged to join the local Sacred Heart Catholic church choir. From there I was coaxed into turning out for a community production of the musical Oklahoma. I won the lead role as Curly. That was something. My first and last participatory theatrical experience.
I proposed, Liz accepted,  and we drove cross country back to CA. I landed a job at Aetna Casualty Insurance Company in SF as a marketing rep. We married at Santa Clara Mission Church July ’82.
Overseas Volunteer Mission – Venezuela ’86-’87
On New Years Day 1986, after three and a half years working in the Bay Area, we moved to Venezuela as volunteers for the Christian Foundation for Children and the Aging (now called Unbound ). For a year and a half, we lived and worked at one of the Caritas orphanages called “La Ciudad de Los Muchachos” in the rural desert state of Lara – east of Caracas by three hours in the little pueblo of Aregue. This location had 53 children, ages 5-13. A memorable and perspective emblazing experience. Thank you, Prep maestro Senor Chandler.
More Career/ Kids
Back in the states, we decided to settle in pleasant Eugene, OR where I worked for insurance broker Marsh & McLennan, later Ward Insurance, and we welcomed our two sons, Benjamin (1988) and Nicholas (1991). After 4 years in Eugene, and building a house we never occupied, I was recruited by my old college mate Heffernan to start a Heffernan Insurance Brokers branch office in Portland. On a wing and a prayer we took the risk for a high reward. I built and managed our Northwest sales team in Portland for most of 30 years, selling my stock and retiring in March 2022.
Retirement (Jubilacion)
We bought a house in Pacific Grove as neither son was returning to CA. Both sons attended college there: Ben, Santa Clara ’10; and Nicholas, Stanford ’13. Both sons met their wives in CA – Ben (Nicole) and Nicholas (Angelica “Gelly”) and for now work in high tech. Nicholas and Angelica, welcomed baby Thomas (b. May ’25) as our first grandchild.
In our Jubilacion (Spanish for retirement) we cherish our time in Pacific Grove (a little town in between Pebble Beach and Monterey), giving thanks in our new Catholic church community, singing in choir, golfing, hiking, ocean swimming, book clubs, travel and sandwich generational care duties for our elders (Liz’s Mom in the Bay Area and my Dad in Seattle) and babysitting Tommy in Santa Monica.

Time is hurdling by. It will be good to see you all.

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

I’m not a creative writer but I have a chronology. I worked as a gopher for Careage during the school year and on a construction crew in the summers from 11 through 21 years old.  After Seattle Prep I went to Oregon State University. I got a BS in Business with a Finance concentration and a Construction Engineering Management minor. My sophomore year I bought a house, rented out rooms, and sold the house after graduation. Dorms and Frats weren’t working well for me. Skied at Mount Bachelor in the winters.

I worked for Merrill Lynch in Seattle as a margin bookkeeper for ten months in 1981. In 1982 I went back to work for my father as a bookkeeper and property manager. During my time at Careage, I developed and financed twenty-five nursing homes and worked on other businesses. I played softball with Goldsmith and other Magnolia/ Queen Anners.

1984 was a busy year for me. My mother passed away in 1984. I ran my first marathon. I was diagnosed with a prolapsed mitral valve. I quit mountain climbing on the advice of my cardiologist. I started white water rafting and kayaking that year.

In 1988 I married Lisa Haroldson. We have our daughter Chloe and our son Riley.

In 1989 the trustees of my mother’s generation skipping trust and foundation were indited for 26 counts. I became a trustee during the prosecution.

In 1991 I went to work for myself developing real estate and working as a trustee. I started skiing and rafting mid-week then. For ten years I was a trustee for Holy Cross High School, which became Archbishop Murphy High School.

In 1999 I had an atrial fibrillation event, ablation procedure and talked Lisa into a ski year in Ketchum, Idaho. We sold our house in Lake Stevens, Washington in 2003 and lived in Ketchum till 2017. We moved to Kirkland, Washington when our kids moved to Seattle after completing college at U of Oregon and Whitman. Both Chloe (Blake) and Riley (Catie) are married and live on the east side of Seattle. Chloe and Blake have a girl named Charlie who was born April 15, 2025.

I am retired but still work as trustee for my mom’s trust and foundation. Lisa and I live in Kirkland from May through October and are sunbirds in the winter. I stopped snow skiing but still white-water raft, cycle, hunt and run some pre-WW2 hot rods.

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

After Prep I went on to Washington State (along with a bunch of other Prep grads). Upon graduating from Wazzu I started out with Longview Fibre Company. After quickly getting my fill of Longview, I fled and a few years later started a CPA firm in downtown Seattle with a partner. We had a number of sports clients and I had the honor of getting to work closely with and becoming good friends with NBA legend & civil rights icon Bill Russell. Great human being … and coincidentally he also had a Jesuit education in his background.

I also served for a few years as a US Naval Reserve Officer based primarily at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. No deployments, but one memorable item of note was when several other supply officers and I received a written directive to stop wearing fake “Top Gun” flight jackets on base after the movie came out.  Apparently no one mistook any of us for Tom Cruise.

In 1999 I got engaged to Anne whose career was based in Washington DC. We were introduced by Prep alum Mike McGavick & his wife Gaelynn.  So I pulled up stakes, sold my interest in the Seattle firm and moved to DC. I drove cross country in an old beater Jeep with a sketchy clutch and no a/c which was quite memorable. I now live on the “other” Capitol Hill in the “other” Washington. After a short stint with American Express I started another CPA firm where I continue to work. I also have a side interest in developing data-focused websites including most recently NIL-NCAA.com which is taking up an increasing amount of time, but I enjoy it.

Off work I still ski and hike. I got pretty heavy into mountaineering including multiple ascents of the major Cascade peaks as well as a fair number of summits in South America. I still have two peaks in Bolivia on my bucket list, but I don’t think my knees are going to cooperate. I ran 25 marathons including 4 Bostons in a futile (okay, pathetic) pursuit of breaking the three- hour mark. Maybe that’s why my knees are shot.

But my most rewarding experience after Prep is my marriage to Anne and having two great kids. Kaitlyn graduated from Oregon last year (hard to believe I have a Duck in the family!) and Casey is attending College in Philadelphia. I envy my kids in that Kaitlyn is a much better skier than me, and Casey has both the skills (and height) to have played basketball in both high school and college.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the 50th!

What I’ve been doing the past 50 years:

I didn’t actually go to Prep, I’m a fictional character from the Tom Hanks movie “Volunteers”. I’m here as a placeholder to exemplify a format for class bios. In the movie though, after I was captured and brainwashed, I did successfully teach an army of communist rebels the Washington State fight song.
